BBC Three Information

BBC Three

BBC Three is a British television channel that ran until 2016, it had a main target audience of around 16–34-year-old viewers. This meant that its program's are targeted towards this age group, rather than the older viewers of BBC One and Two. It features a lot of program's like reality TV shows, for example RuPaul’s Drag Race. This is because reality TV shows tend to have a much younger audience, so channels like ITV also air them to draw in teenagers. BBC Three also plays scripted dramas a lot, for example In My Skin. It had comedies planned to play in the evening which worked because its what the target audience would want to sit and watch after they’ve been to school/work. This different target audience means younger celebrities will be featured so the audience knows who they are and will want to know who they are. Now BBC Three is classed as an Internet Television service rather than a channel, due to the younger audience using social media more than watching television. However after this was done, viewership decreased by 89% fewer minutes being watched on the internet service. BBC Three is now planning to come back to television with more shows marketed towards 16-34-year-old viewers.
